I was wondering if anyone knows anything about direct connection/duck lip spoilers that would work on my 72 demon. If anyone knows where to find them or if someone makes them let me know. Thanks!

spoilers by randy? I just ordered one for my 72 duster. cheaper versions are available. If im getting what you are looking for.....below front bumper spoiler.

I used the one for a ‘91 Ford Ranger and modified it to fit. $30. There’s a thread on here somewhere. Just do a search for chin spoiler.

i think the ducklip spoilers are the trunk spoilers you saw so often on the volares

i mean, look at his avatar, why would he need a spoiler for under the front bumper...he doesnt even have a front bumper

:poke:

The spoiler on the trunk I have always known as the “Duck tail” spoiler.

A spoiler in the front of the car I have always known as a “Chin spoiler” because it is under the nose of the car.

Seemed to make sense to me.

There was a guy in Ia. that was big into the F bodies that repoped all the F stuff plus that A body ducktail. but he passed and no one has taken up his game. Go to facebook and look under the FMJR ET site. I would mention you are looking for said spoiler there and other A body sites.

I’m not sure if the contours are the same.

I have one I took off of my Duster. It is for a 74 though so it has the little groove in it for the trunk rib.

I will get yall a few pics of it this evening. It's painted blue and a few of the bolt/rivet holes have some spider cracks but overall its pretty good.

NO The F body stuff is NOT the sam,e I said the guy that made the F parts also made a copy of that ducktail spoiler before ha passed last year. . Be ware of junk on feebay too.

Well, as things start to dry up a good body man will be busy. I'm not a body man by no means but there can't be much to pick from anymore. I did put a F body ducktail spoiler on my 72 B body years ago. Lots of fitting and bondo but it did look cool. This will be a tough "bolt on part" to find for sure. Best of luck on your hunt my friend.

bondo and paint, make it what it aint.

here are a few options, if you want to get creative

Fit 11-16 Scion TC RS Style Primer Black ABS Plastic Rear Trunk Wing Spoiler | eBay

Mr2 Whale Tail Spoiler | eBay

Porsche whale tail spoiler wing | eBay

ok, so maybe the first one is the only serious contender, but still

Never said it was a "correct" part. But I did say "best of luck"
If he is adding it, it will be "bondo and paint, make it what it aint" anyway...

Spoilers by Randy does not make a rear spoiler, only the fronts.

The Direct Connection “duck tail” spoiler is a rear spoiler. The F body spoiler won’t fit, and neither will the one for a Javelin. I have one for a Javelin because I was curious about it fitting and it’s not close.

The Direct Connection version was ABS and hasn’t been made in a decades. They’re pretty thin and prone to cracking, and generally sell for well over $200 if you can even find one.

MAS made what I think is the best fiberglass version, but they’re out of business as well. It’s very close in dimensions and shape to the DC version and the fiberglass work was decent.

CNS on eBay makes one. I don’t have this version, but I have another one from CNS and the fiberglass work is pretty rough. It’s workable, but it would take more than a little bodywork. Better than nothing but you’d better know how to work fiberglass.

70-76 duster dodge dart sport 71-72 Dodge Demon rear trunk lid spoiler | eBay

Showcarsrob in Canada has had them for sale as well, although he doesn’t currently have any listed on eBay. His version is about a 1/4” shorter on the width compared to the DC or MAS version, so it leaves a little bit of trunk lid exposed on the ends. It’s not a big difference and unless you compare it to a DC spoiler most folks wouldn’t notice. His fiberglass work is decent though, it’s probably the best version currently being made.

Thankyou that is very helpful!

I will send you some this evening. Sorry I didn't do it last night. Took my tablet to the garage and took the pictures but watched Dr. Doolittle with my daughter last night and fell asleep during. I will post them tonight though.

I took a pic of every bolt hole that's cracked or broken. All the rest besides the ones shown are good. If one of y'all can use it pm me or something.

That’s pretty common for the original DC spoilers, it’s hard to find ones that were actually mounted that aren’t like that. You’ve got a pretty clean example there, it looks good.

They were originally supposed to be mounted with plastic push rivets, but they end up getting mounted with sheet metal screws a lot. The bottom of the screw pocket doesn’t always sit flat on the trunk so when the screw gets tightened down the ABS cracks.

An ABS epoxy will take care of that. And if you put spacers on the backside of the screw pockets when you do that it’ll keep it from cracking again.
