have any of you used the pro comp dizzy offered in your small block? reliabilty? wanting to go to an hei set up. and i have a msd 6al and msd 3 step retard im going to wire in. and does it respond to this? or just go with stock dizzy with an advanced curve sprins init? going in built 318 with 340 cam 3.55 gears about 2800-3000 lbs street car.

Pro comp sells lots of stuff (mostly made in China). Post a photo of the distributor you are talking about. Search "ready-to-run HEI distributor" here (and ebay). Many posts w/ experience if that is the distributor you refer to. I don't know how an HEI module would help if an MSD box will drive your coil.

If "stock dizzy" means an electronic one (~1972+), that is as good at driving an MSD box and probably more reliable. A points distributor is not so good. You didn't tell us the year of your car & engine.

are you trying to use the Msd 6al and 3 step with the procomp hei distributor?....not quite sure what you are trying to do......

If you want to use the HEI to trigger MSD, connect white MSD trigger wire to black HEI wire that would have went to coil negative. Red HEI goes to 12V ignition, that comes from IGN1,IGN2 connecter together by bypassing ballast. Ignition coil hooks to MSD.

Follow MSD instructions, similar to using pertronix, or Mallory Unilite.
