Well I posted a month or two ago about the problem I had with my keystock on my camshaft not being long enough to catch the fuel pump eccentric. Well I failed to mention I have a double row timing chain. I looked in a book at the local library about hot rodding a small block mopar and I saw in a picture g how the factory timing chain sprocket sits back farther on the camshaft snout. I will try tomorrow or Monday modify a long piece of keystock by slowly grinding it till it has enough hanging out of the end of the snout so that it can catch the fuel pump eccentric.

Something doesn't seem right here.

Can you post some pictures of what you're working with?

I use standard key ways with double roller timing chains all the time with no problem. Are you sure that the camshaft is not walking back on you as you are putting the chain and gears on? Use the washer and bolt for the fuel pump eccentric to push the gear on to the cam all the way as far as it can go....

then remove the bolt and washer and put the fuel pump eccentric on.
