Passenger Front window
go down,,, NOT up

checked power to motor
has current to the wires as switch is activated up and down

plugged new motor in same problem

took rear window switch out, plugged into front window,
still acts the same
quit for the night.

I think I have lost ground to the up position ?????????????????????

Where to look next ?
have looked at the wires in the door jam/ hinge area

Thanks

id check the connector for the switch first. After that, the Calibers had a power control system, no relays, no fuses and it limited the grounds to itself. I hate that box, i had to replace mine to get my headlights to work on low beams again, 600 bucks, dealer has to program too. Its dumb.

looks like I have more investigating to do
Is that box like a body control computer?
where is it located?
If I got it out of another Caliber, are you saying it would still need re-programed ?

The easiest way to diagnose this is with a capable scan tool, not a generic code reader. Check for faults in that system and if present, clear them and see if they come back. Sometimes fault codes will disable electrical functions, such as a bulb fault. Then look at live data to see if the TIPM is seeing the up window command from the switches, both master switch and the door switch. If the window goes down it is getting power and ground to the motor when the down position. It may be that when the up function is commanded the ground output is missing from the control module, which is a combination body control module and smart fuse panel, as I recall. The Totally Integrated Power Module contains the switching devices for the electrical loads it controls.

That's why they call it electrickery. Principles involved far beyond our meager comprehension. :)
