when i passed by there were 2 sherrifs and a volunteer firefighter on scene
they were just watching it burn, so my guess is no one was in it

Well, in that state, what would YOU do if there was somebody in there? They dead and you would be dead trying to save them. First rule in Fire/EMS is "Don't become the victim."

Without an SCBA that toxic smoke is Lung Cancer City.

I hope that the driver was not hurt and has full coverage with GAP insurance.
