Dodge Trucks....Don Knotts style

So darn true!!! Have you noticed the ads for the new , is it Chevy??, pickup, the tailgate opens by it frigging self!!?????? ha

Haven't seen it but I'm not a bit surprised.
They just can't leave things alone when it works and have to keep adding stupid **** that ends up causing problems.
That's one of my biggest complaints about technology, is that everything barely works because they are in so much of a hurry to get the new things that barely work out for sale.

For the cost of a trans replacement in one of those new trucks you could replace the entire drivetrain with brand new stuff in Rani's truck.
The more they add and change on the new trucks the less reliable and more expensive they get to fix.
That is why I drive these old junk yard refugees as daily drivers.

I don't do car payments.

We own and drive 5 cars currently and not one car payment.:D
3 are classics (two early 70's Darts and a 59 Ranchero)
One restored 91 BMW 325i convertible
One 01 Pontiac Trans Am

I've been looking for a 60's sweptline 3/4 ton 4x4. Talk about hard to find. I've never owned a 60's sweptline and would love to!
My coworker might be interested in selling his, it's a project but I think it runs and drives, 383/4 speed. Hooler at me through a PM if interested.

All those soccer moms traded in their station wagons for SUV's, and now they drive pickups, an need every little convenience to help them get through their daily struggles. Wave your foot and the rear hatch goes up? What are your hands for? If you have that much crap, it should be in a cart! A ladder to help get into the pickup box, and a railing? Step on the tire (if you can get your foot that high!) and climb over the side of the box! It's a truck, and meant for work. Sad thing is they are nicer than a lot of cars out there, and drive like one, now that no one makes a solid front axle in a half ton (that I know of, but I'm not buying so I wouldn't know). I've got two trucks that ride and drive like trucks, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. $60k+ for a Ram 1500? No thanks.

My two. 64 D100 Utiline getting 440 in my shop and 70 D200 3/4 ton 2nd owner documented 46k miles.

When I was a kid my friends dad bought a 1964 dodge D300 cab & chassis, made his own bed and pulled a Cat bull dozer on a big trailer for 20 years.
225 /6, NP435, Dana 60 with 4.88:1 gears. The motor never had any repairs at all except tune ups and a carb rebuild and still ran like a top when he retired.

I bought this one to save it from the crusher. It was just too nice to see it turned into soup cans. 82 D150, slant, 833OD, 8-1/4, gears unknown. It's in really nice shape except it threw the timing chain. No rust anywhere except the usual surface stuff underneath. I'm tempted to pull the drive train and sell it as a roller, but it's just oh-so-cool. I may fix it and drive it for a while. Sadly for the D150, I have a 94 Ram 2500 TCD so a second truck isn't likely to have a permanent parking spot.

My old truck is a 59 Sweptside, my plow truck is a 2000 3/4 ton V-10 My old workhorse was a 85 1-ton, miss that beast

I think I should get together with the most hillbilly fabo member so we can be hillbillies in a dodge truck like this LOL

A 1970 D200 Custom Camper Special w/383/auto I stumbled upon while out in Missoula Montana in 1991 on a two week vacation with a buddy, about mid trip we saw this thing sitting at an old gas station setup as a used car lot. Keeping in mind we were seeing these era trucks everywhere while out there, and being from Illinois had never seen one, so lust was strong! Buddy asks me if I wanted it, I was like hell yeah!!....but how?? Had to wire $1600 from buddies bank to some bank out there, took the whole day up from first seeing it to driving off with it on our way to Yellowstone, what a time. Drove all the way back no problems, owned it for 11 or so years, one tough cool *** truck, added some American Racing Black Nuggets and big meats, an Erson "Performer" cam, AFB 4-barrel and headers, that thing moved! The wife and kids still recall how they loved that truck

Back bout early 90'sI picked up a 70 something D300 with a flatbed, it had a 360 and 4 speed. Did not need it, just bought it and why?? I had my FORD memchanic bud rebuild the engine with some RV cam, then we took it out and he was truly impressed with it. He ran on the KC, Mo little NASAR track so I was tickled he was impressed! Like everything some guy wandered by and bought it a week later.
I have always loved trucks, trucks are cool, and useful!!!!

I'm just getting into my first Dodge truck! Its a 79 D400 with a 360 and 4speed np435. Definitely more than I NEED, but I've got a feeling I'll grow into it haha.

I'm in the middle of restoring a 1961 W200. I had it down to the frame and I'm doing body work now. Fixed lots of rot in the cab, about everywhere you can think if. Switched the /6 for a poly 318.

My old `71 D400 shorty, it was an apparatus truck for the local FD. It had an industrial 318 and lift gate.
I loved that thing but it was a little to large for practicality.
I used to haul ladies in the back for their annual "super bowl sucks" pub crawl the day before the big game.
I'd throw a crappy sofa or two in the back and they were loving it!
I wish the pic was better, the truck was in phenomenal condition.

My #1 Mopar rule - If it follows me home, I get to keep it. :)

1970 D300 with the 318, 435 4-speed and Dana 70 with a Sure-Grip. (coded for a 4.56 gear, so the ratio must have been swapped at some point)

I would like to find a dually Utiline bed for it eventually.
