Its a 64/5 Barracuda. Square tube with ladder bar. Has a wish bone link. Multi point cage, glass front. Lexan windows. Cut & boxed K member with rear steer factory appearing disc front brakes. Torsion bars. Valiant grille. Was told car was painted purple & raced in eastern NC with a B motor during the 90's. Rear suspension is still purple. Appears to have been professionally built.

sweet hotrod but I don't know anything about it. I would suggest getting the sfi spec for .7.50 et and doing the funny cage etc. those upper shock mounts do not look too professional to me. I would also upgrade the ladders to the adjustable type. still a damn nice car you have. I had a 66 and my bud had a 65 we races at the same tracks years back. how far is Youngsville from warrenton?

The ladders have the heim joints on them. What are you not liking about the upper shock mounts?

I don't like the shock mounts either. They should be tied to the cage - there's not enough support with just that single thickness bracket for my taste. You come down and they bend - not good.

Yea I guess I see your point. I don't think it wheel stands however. Would be a good idea to tie the mount over. Easy to do that. Added measure of safety. The biggest thing I don't like is the support from the steering column over to the A pillar post. Thought about running it down to the vertical bar at the pedals?

if the car has a dash bar running from A-pillar to A-pillar that is what you need to attach the column to.

Yes it does & its attached there. That's pretty close to the sheet metal fire wall. So who ever built it added the second brace to the A pillar. I can see why it was done, just don't like it there. I may change it & run it down to the bar at the pedals.

yep thats the only option you have it sounds like. that bar the way it is blocks some of your view and a distraction. the only other way is to do the bracing out in the engine compartment. not sure how the column is setup there cant really tell by the picture.

I knew a racer in the 80's with a car like that in Md. He raced at Capital Raceway. He moved away could be the same, his was purple... His first name was Buddy ? I cant remember his last name.

Throw some parts at it and go shack it down !!!!!!

Cool Car !!!!!!!
I hear ya Cowboy. Gathering parts every chance I get. Its going to need a good cleaning. Its been sitting for years. Definitely want to get the purple off the rear suspension. Need to fix a few bo bos in the fiberglass too.

The guy I got it from claimed it was built locally by a well known now deciest Mopar guru. However I went over to his shop a few times during the late 80's & 90's & he was no longer building anything. He had a lot of race cars over there, but I never saw this one. And I have asked other local Mopar folks who race & only one claims to ever remember seeing a purple Cuda in the area. That's why I posted this add. I just want to see some real doc. info on it. And really want to know who built it. Somebody spent a lot of time on it. Would like to know if it was a winner too.

regardless as to who built it or the history of the car. You have a good base to start with. now to make it your own and do some updates to the car.

Oh I will. I want it to be right & nice. I currently have a B body drag car. Kinda want to put it back on the street & clone it as an A12 car. So I bought this Cuda.
All of this will take money & time. It took me 2 years to get the Satellite strip ready & I was a lot younger back then. In the meantime I was searching for more info & history on it. It "aint" the best car out there by a long shot, but its the best car I have ever had to work with. Years ago I bought a really nice unfinished tube chassis Ford cheap & lost interest because I'm just not a Ford guy & have no Ford parts (engines, trans etc) so I sold it. Then I bought a tube chassis Arrow cheap & sold it because I was too cramped up being 6'4 so I sold it. This car is just right. Its a Mopar & I can fit in it. And most of the hard work has already been done. And I have parts to get a good start on it. I paid more for it than I did the other two chassis cars, but its what I wanted.

For some reason it looks like it has a redish orange paint job in the pic's. Even the guy I got it from. His pic's where the same. However it is actually very bright red. Another thing is the rear quarter panels are sheet metal & are thin and flat. I'm guessing with an A motor/904 combo this car will scale around 2300 ?

power wash all the grease and oil off it and take it and have it soda blasted inside and out. then a nice flat black epoxy primer inside and out and you're done. rewire and put a mild big block in it and you'll have a easy 9 second hotrod. a grumpy big block and it'll go low 8's if not high 7's.

i'm going to Roxboro to see if the hotrod can make a clean run this Saturday. free entry with can food donation to t&t and there is a gamblers race for $1000 to win. opens at 11am.

I'm planning on taking the Satellite there on Saturday. I understand they are open from 11 to 11. I hope to get in a lot of passes. May enter the gamblers if the car is hooking. What car do you run?
