does msd 6a ign require msd coil

got starting/running probs, fuel present,dont think that ,changed ht lead to coil, next is change coil, has been mounted on inlet and probabally not helped,heat etc does coil have to be specefic or not, cheers.
 
nope not at all you can run any high output coil , make sure your wires from coil to msd are not close to any other wires at all!!!

Will this cause a miss around 3000 RPM? Right now I am having a problem with an ignition miss, can not find it. I was going to put another 6a MSD box in and try it. Just hate to buy another one when this one is only a few months old.
 
I have read in the past that ignition wires # 5and #7 should be crossed to prevent cross fire. I have not experienced any ignition issues with my MSD 6A running this way. How are you keeping them apart near the distributor and spark plugs?
