Hello all,
Three questions
1. What dog dish hubcap (If any) would have come on a 1973 H code duster?
2. What dog dish hubcap would have come on a 1973 Stock duster?
3. Did body color painted stock steel rims come completely painted the body color Or was only the outer side body color painted and the back / inside of the rim painted other then the body color?
Happy Mopar :)
Thanks in advance
Arron.

Well, the ones on the right are not Dodge dog dishes, so it would not be those. (Anything with the fratzog is a Dodge part).

Plymouth Division all the way.
The plane Jane model would be acceptable.

The hubcaps on the left came on my 73 Duster and the wheels were painted black, not body color.

Black semi gloss steel wheels and the plain ones on the left would have been factory for your car.
The hubcaps in the middle were for Dodges only as mentioned, and the ''Plymouth Division'' ones on the right were factory on '69 to '71 Plymouths, so they would be incorrect for your car, even though they look better than the plain jane ones on the far left...........

Sometime in the Spring of '71 was the end of the era for body color steelies with hub caps.

Unless you had a black car of course........

And if you had a black car the wheels were still semi gloss, whereas before they were gloss like the body.

My 69 wheels are being powder coated matching red as we speak...
I love the understated look of poverty caps.

At one point having rims painted to match the car color was a factory option that was ordered when you ordered your car

Hello Alaskin_TA,
Thanks,
Stinks that they discontinued color matching around spring of 71.
Would it have been possible to special order or get them as an dealer option package in 73?
Happy Mopar :)

whys that? stick body color ones on it if ya want.. hell 90% of the people who see your car won't even realize that body color wheels are not "correct"..
Agreed.
Also, i'd bet if the customer wanted body colored steelies and pie plate hubcaps when the car was new, the dealership would have been more than happy to do it for you............

I have not seen a special order paint option for wheels.

Until Spring of '71, it was standard with hubcaps, not an extra cost option.

The only exclusion I can think of were the Challenger T/As in mid - '70 with hubcaps - black rims only but they also came with trim rings.

Hello Alaskan_TA,
As always your knowledge base is unmatched and always appreciated.
Happy Mopar :)
Thanks,

So the caps on my 69 Swinger now are the plain ones on the left. The ones in the center with the red would be the right / correct ones , right ?

Alaskan is right. The dog dish on the left would be correct; however, I would bet that a lot of H codes came with the full size caps- mine did

I think that 69 was the last year for body color wheels. All three of my 70 Darts came with semi-gloss black wheels with full wheel covers, including the one my Dad bought new, and an 'old lady car I got with 27,000 original miles.

Even on pre 69, if you had full wheel covers the wheels were semi-gloss black
The question is with dog dish caps, through at least 69 if you had dog-dish caps (poverty caps) the wheels were body color.
some time later this changed, what year specifically I don't know.

it changed later then 70 ( i want to say 72 or 73) but i don't remember. it has been posted here before.. up to at least 70 if you got full wheel covers you got black wheels. if you got dog dished you got body color wheels.

In 1975 I bought a '70 Road Runner which was 100% unmolested. The wheels were body-color. And it had full wheel covers on it, not just the dog-dishes.
