Has anyone tried Doug's Stainless Steel Headers on an A body? I am wondering about the fit vs others such as TTI. But TTI doesn't offer Stainless. I have a 67 B-cuda and a 72 Demon 340. let me know what you have tried?

I haven’t used stainless ever. I would think stainless would be harder to work with should you ever have to ‘clearance’ them…. I’ve heard they are more prone to cracks vs mild steel

I haven't messed with stainless Doug's, but helped my son put painted ones on his valiant. Easiest a-body headers I have ever dealt with. His valiant is manual steering, and we did not have to drop the center link to install. We loosened both motor mounts lifted the motor on one side at a time. By turning the steering wheel all the way, we were able to slide them in. We did have to remove the oil filter to get the passenger side in.

Design wise, Dougs appears to be very similar to TTI. The only major a-body differences I'm aware of is TTI has #7 tube separate and going over & around the frame rail while Dougs are one-piece on both sides. Doug's are also straight 1 5/8" while TTI are stepped 1 5/8" to 1 3/4".

I put a set of Doug's 453s on my '74 Duster with a 360. Perfect fit, I didn't have to ding or massage anything. As good (or better) than the TTI's or the old Hooker super comps I've got on my other cars.

I ran Dougs on a 65 Valiant I had years ago with a hot 360. They were hands down the easiest to install and best fitting headers I've ever owned. Follow the instructions, as a lot of things have to be removed to facilitate installation, but the fit and function is great. In fact, I didn't even have to have a V8 center link. My engine fit fine with the slant 6 center link. It was close, but it fit. I also used the Schumacher conversion mount kit as well.

I'd imagine the SS version fit just like the coated steel version. They're one of the best options for small block A-body headers out there.

You just need to be aware that just because they fit well for some, doesn't mean they fit perfect across the board. None if these cars was put together the same. Also, you might be using different or worn mushy mounts. There are so many variables, there is no magic "yes they fit all" answer. This is hot rodding, after all.

We used manual steering doug's on a power steering car. With a little massaging they fit . with Doug's A manual shift car the output lever on the z-bar has to be turned backwards as per their instructions. So we did it on a k-member assembly stand. Made fitment much easier. I would say the TTI even though they were larger tubes were a much better header for fitment. but the cost was double for the system.

I hate the TTI headers on my 68 Dart with a W2 headed small block.. I just took off their H pipe assembly as it fit like crap also. Do all the Dougs headers for small block / A bodies still require cutting a hole in the fenderwell ? American racing headers in North Carolina also makes stainless steel headers for small block / A bodies I was considering them but they don't offer them for a W2 head bolt pattern
