I recently score a pair of 28 10.5 15 drag slick for a really sharp price. They're a little close to the front and rear of the arches, but not so close that I can't get my had, (or at least my fingers) between them. But it's got me thinking, how much will the tires dilate? I know I don't exactly have a rail, (Those boys get some serious dilation happening!) but being such big soft ballons, I don't want the tire to contact the body.

What are your experiences?

I have seen folks use 29 or 30" diameter drag slicks on a stock eliminator duster with basically stock fenderwells with no issue. I do not think those size slicks grow much by the time you hit top speed. A top fuel dragster will hit 200 mph well before the 600 ' mark. A car running 110 mph in the 1/4 mile will not experience anywhere near the tire diameter change a faster car will.

Also the amount the TF dragster tires grow is much greater because they are designed to grow like that to increase the MPH and use the 8000 hp the engine is making. Tires designed to be used on slower doorslammer cars are not designed to do this since these slower cars do not have the power to utilize this feature.

What sort of car are using them on??

Actually, it's a non mopar.:sad7: (getting too hard to find them here at affordable prices nowdays.) But it IS going to be mopar powered though.
if dilation isn't going to be an issue, I'll be able to have the cars stance more level, without having to jack the rear up. That'll help with weight transfer off the line.

.............U WILL NEED AT LEAST AN INCH CLEARANCE, dont ask me how i know...............kim..........

I don't mean to hijack this, but I hope you are right. An inch on each side is about what I will have once I finish welding in my mini tubs. I am running drag radials 325/60/15's and 12" rims.

Bias ply slicks can grow quite a bit. Radial slicks grow very little. Also, the wider the rim, the less a tire will tend grow during a burnout and on top end.

agree with locomotion

i KNOW my ET drags grew an inch due to the groove the quarter cut into them........
