dried tape on chrome

PPG brand DX440 wax and grease remover on the paint, "00" grade steel wool on the chrome, and a razor blade on the glass. 3M adhesive remover works well too.
 
Everything mentioned above except Acetone. That stuff will melt paint in the blink of an eye.

Wasn't the whole point that this was on CHROME? If acetone hurts your chrome, you're in trouble. And if you can use steel wool on the chrome without hitting paint, you should be able to do the same with acetone.
 
360scamp has the right idea if tape is on a bumper. I have been in the auto-recon business for years and that is the way We do it. If the tape is on interior chrome plated plastic,then go with the goo gone.
 
window cleaner and 000 fine steel wool is awsome for chrome. Gotta agree with JR
