Drive Like You Stole it... I did and I will....

Well, got heads and intake painted.Stripped heads of crane guides and studs.Tried to install Comp guide plates but crane 5/16 to 3/8 studs are different.Order Comp studs from Summit.Check valve clearance to piston and have plenty.KB 167 Piston valve reliefs allow for pretty big lift.Installed heads and started header install.

Should run good keep us informed.

I bought some cheap headers just to break in my motor and to get it running.
Just trying to save some money to get this project finished.Well it was a big mistake but I will roll with the punches and never do it again.I spend most of the afternoon today installing them at my full equipped shop.
Driver side had clearance problems with manual steering box, torsion bar and of course Milodon pan.I bent them in with air hammer and I believe with out Milodon pan they still would not fit. Here are some pictures.
Also found some loose bolts on suspension and corrected them.
Had to pull oil filter adapter to install right side header and found no gasket to the block, corrected that after installing headers.I am going to have redo and recheck everything this previous owner did.Pinion angle is off, pointing down with weight of the car on it.I believe the shims were installed backwards and I think he got SS springs on the wrong sides.Oh well not bitching, just want to get it right....Not finished tweaking headers, need more clearance at pan and steering box...Can not wait till next weekend.

Thanks to Craiglist,I purchased a Hurst Promatic 2 shifter for twenty dollars.
Has the 904/727 brackets for the tranny, which I already installed. The guy I bought the shifter from is redone a nice 65 Barracuda,340 and 4 speed.Cool car and cool guy, ended up buy some parts for 63 and 66 dart also.

Here are some pictures,no cover or chrome lid but does have neutral safety and backup switch.Notice the safety pin, just need small washer and cotter pin.Probably build wood box cover for it.

Saturday 3/4 day at work, the other 1/4 day find parts need for my dart from my home to take to the shop for Sunday.

Bad day at shop today but not as nerve racking as Joeys getting this site back up.
Had to put an a/c condenser in my little bro's Mini Cooper which requires mini hands and mini tools and lots of Patience...
Well I am down to the last box of parts that came with the car.
Intake is just mocked up with carb and filter for now as are the valve covers, still waiting on push-rods that will arrive Wednesday but found fan shroud in my shed off radiator I got when I purchased 1966 dart.
I installed Comp guides and rocker studs,Installed alternator and regulator , got most of engine harness wired up,put headlights in and head light bezels.
Painted brake booster brackets and master cylinder ,not installed yet.
Installed thermostat and went to parts store and purchased upper and lower radiator hoses.
Need to make bracket for Throttle cable and return spring, waiting for edelbrock throttle lever, due Wednesday from Summit...Installed proportion valve, and still need to make a brake line for right rear.

It has staggered shackles.
No it is not mini-tubed,they rolled the wheel lips and pulled the quarters out to flare it...do not believe it was necessary to pull on the quarters like they did, just need to jack the car weight off the rear end to get tire on and off..
Tires fit fine.I post some better picture later this week, got to go to sleep and got lots of work tommorrow...

Thanks to Craiglist,I purchased a Hurst Promatic 2 shifter for twenty dollars...Probably build wood box cover for it.

I'm running that same shifter, and you can buy the cover from Summit for about twice what you paid for the shifter!!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you check piston to valve clearance without any pushrods?!? Maybe I'm missing something here.

I had the MP conversion push rods 7.625 with crane nylon guide plates on the heads from my 360 motor that I bought assembled....Robbed parts off that motor.
Also purchased an adjustable comp push rod checker and used it to come up with 7.600 to get roller center at no lift and full lift.
Did not post pictures earlier due to poor quality
