Drive shaft question mild steel or aluminum?

Need to get a driveshaft made and dont know what material to get one made out of. Do I need aluminum? Drag car 360 400 HP or so. What u joints do I go with too? Front and rear. The driveshaft comes with the slip joint and I need the rear so it really doesn't matter at this time its all the same price I just don't want to do this again and need something dependable. Thanks.

I bought a chromemoly d.shaft with 1350 u-joints with 904 slip yoke from Mancini,s Racing.Pricey,but don,t think I,ll have any d.shaft or u-joint problems.(525hp)

That's the site I was looking at too. They have a 1020 mild steel, a 4130 moly, and a 6061 aluminium. I think they are all available with the 904 spline and 1350 joints. I just didn't know if I needed anything special. I'm all about having an insurance policy so that's why I'm asking. Is one better than another?

I got a 3 inch .080 mild steel tubing made locally, had 7290 yokes on both ends...with 7260/7290 conversion u-joint with 904 and 8 3/4.

Car is 3000 lbs launches with transbrake and has run 10.70s .....

That was the other question I just realized. I think they have 3 or 3.5 in too. Didn't know what a stock one is but I barely have any clearance with my driveshaft loop.

Don't worry about your driveshaft loop, that can be changed or modified to fit the shaft you need, you do not EVER get a shaft dependent upon the driveshaft loop.

The diameter of the shaft will depend on the length and other parameters that your driveshaft shop will ask you when you visit them.

You have a performance vehicle so if it's performance you are looking for than AL should be what you want.
