looking for a good BB drive shaft. i have a 727, 8 3/4 set up. prefer one that is the right length as money is short right now with all the new stuff i need.... oh and its a 73 dart sport

Scott, I have the driveshaft out of the 73 Dart Sport I am parting out. It was a 340/727/8 1/4 combo and the driveshaft measures 45" from center to center of the cups on the shaft itself. The slip joint is still on it also. Is this the driveshaft you need??? Let me know, Geof

i dont really no the measurements i need but i dont think it will work since the 8 3/4 is longer then then the 8 1/4. dont no much about this area

Here's what I found in the parts book

Dart 8 3/4 4 speed 51.53" dia.2 3/4"
Barracuda 8 3/4 4 speed 48.60" dia 2 3/4"

Dart 8 3/4 727 47.81 dia 3 1/4"
Barracuda 8 3/4 727 44.88 dia 3"

from center to center of U joint caps

someone just told me 45in but im sure thats for the big block one and the one above me is for small block. so around 45 it is

Engine makes no difference. The transmission sits in the same place regardless.

My 70 Duster with a 727 and 8.75 has a 45" shaft, I believe the FSM says 44.99"

I 2nd what cracked said . Also the abody 4 speed is the same length as a 904,just uses a 727/4spd yoke. The 3 speeds are also the same length but use a 904 yoke

if you can find a class "C" motorhome, the kind that has the Dodge van for the cab and a sleeper over the cab. Check the drive shaft from the axle to the carrier. 47.88" and it has the 7290 yokes. I have one in my Dart. Very cheap.
