I'm converting my 68 valiant 170", 3 on the tree to a four on the floor. The A833 has the small diameter tailshaft.
Will the original driveshaft just slide in, en will it be the right length?

Thanks,

Antoon

The shaft should be the same, there is no difference in length between the 3spd and 4spd.

And the slip-yoke will fit as well?

Thanks

Slip yoke in the 3 speed is likely a 26 spline, 4 speed will/should be a 29/30 spline.

I tried the slip yoke form a 1970 small block 904, and that fit's. The slip yoke is definately not the same as a 727. I also had to use the smaller seal from a 904.

The a-833 4spd uses the 727 yoke but some of the 3spds use the 904 yoke.

Maybe I should mention that it's a four speed wich came out of a 67 225 barracuda.
The slip yoke I have from an old 904 slips into the four speed for the valiant but it didn't slip onto the shaft of my challenger four speed. There it was too small.
But I guess the drive shaft from the three speed should work, since it's the same a a 904.

I believe the change from 26 spline to 29 spline for 833's was late '66, so your '67 4 speed could have been put together with a leftover 26 spline shaft. That would explain why the 904 26 spline yoke fits.

that makes sense. I does have some 66 castings in it.

Thanks
