I have a driveshaft with a counter weight at the trans end...can I remove the yoke and turn it around...the weight would be at the rear end...then I can cut the driveshaft to the length needed...

When you cut it you will need to have it re-balanced

Many of these shafts have the internal harmonic balancer which consists of a section of heavy wall tubing suspended in a rubber sleeve. It is usually in the front half of the shaft and makes it noticeably heavier on that end. Always try and cut the back section. If you get into the rubber bad things can happen when you weld!

This is what I have

66 ish. Hmmmm That is a harmonic balancer. You should be able to eliminate that. I would find a later model shaft to cut.
