can you just swap drums and hubs and pads in front to gain 4.5 instead of 4.0 circle? if so whats the best donor?

I don't think they made 10" front drum brakes for A-bodies after '72 as they went to disc. You may be able to fit a B-body drum but not sure.

Since the 62-72 B Body drum brake spindle is the same dimensionally as the 73-76 A Body disc spindle and takes the large ball joint, you should be able to use the B spindle with 73-76 A UCAs and run the wider 10 inch drum brakes (or even 11 inchers). Personally, if I wanted the 5 on 4.5, I'd just use the 73-76 A Body disc set-up.

i hear ya but if you didnt have to swap upper control arms it would be a cheap way to 4.5
