I made it to 11 points, 12 you lose your license. Laid low until some points fell off and still had to do some fancy talking a time or 2.
So, I had a license back in the Netherlands and when I first moved out here i figured it was easier to just take the test and start as a "new driver" then to try and convert my license
A few years later, I decided I wanted cheaper car insurance, so of course I had to send in to the state to get my record, pay 7 dollars, wait 3 months, finally it shows up
So I'm looking it over, and it reads, speeding, speeding, accident, speeding, suspended
And I'm like, huh, I wonder what they mean with suspended
So I called em up and asked
Turns out here in Michigan they only allow you 6 points before they want to have a chat, and we'll, I got em
So they send me a letter inviting me to have a sit down chat with them to consider my achievements
Only issue, I had since moved and must have forgotten to change the address on my license so I never got the invitation
They in turn took that as a refusal to discuss things on my part and decided to just suspend my license
Best part is, this happened almost 2 years ago, and at the time, I was living 50 miles from where I worked, I put 500 miles a week on my car just to work and back
So to end our conversation they said I had to go before a judge and explain myself before they decide if I was gonna get it back
So, I go before a judge and I explained to her I'm an excellent driver, I'd been driving for about 50000 miles without a license and never got caught...she didn't think that was quite as impressive as I had hoped
