Maybe I was just lucky but I used the Duplicolor paint. Going on 10 years and still looks great. No peeling or flaking.

The amount of solids in any paint has a bearing on how well it works. Be it a top coat color as in silver vs say white, or a primer as in high build urethane, etc.
How any paint works also depends on application method. number and thickness of coats, flash time. Prep.
Seems like my old engines leak here and there, so engine paint is just that...engine paint. lol

We are all here because we are not all there.
I believe Duplicolor changed the formula of the paint perhaps to comply to VOC regulations. The old stuff worked pretty good
