Who has weighed their Duster?

I know the later ones are heavier due to doors and bumpers but I assume they can be setup similar to a '70-72. I am talking a complete race car though with no street equipment. I also know it will depend on engine/trans/rear end...etc but I'd like to know in the ballpark.

I raced one years ago but never got to weigh it. It had poly race buckets and a gutted interior, no heater box, radio or anything associated. It was a '71.

Wondering how light I can get one.

I had a 73 duster that was a 360 with 904 and 8 3/4 with street tires, one RCI front seat no p/s seat and it did have the rear seat in the car all steel car and with me in it it weighed 3030 if that helps.

I had mine at I think 3050( I will get the paper work to be sure with me 347 at the time)in it race ready and street legal with 46.9% rear wt.and still have the paperwork to prove it.If I can ever get to learn how to put a pic. on here!!!:violent1: Artie

My 71 duster in street trim weighed 3300 with me in it. I would have weighed 225 then. That was a 360 4speed with a scatter shield and a block saver.

2500 with driver would be nice :D

I'm 205#'s

There is going to be a lot of fiberglass and lexan in your future. I would also look at lightening the front K member a bit and aluminum heads. That is where the biggest part of weight savings are going to come from. I (on a car I used to have) cut out all the excess metal below the 1/4 window and rear seat v bracing. A fuel cell will help some. get rid of factory wiring and put in what is needed as far as a switch panel set up. The one I did the factory harness compared to a Painless 50005 I lost 10 lbs from getting rid of all the junk. Every little bit you can trim will make a difference. Going to a tube chassis set up will be the best way to get the weight down. But I don't know what your budget is or how soon you want to get it done.

I don't have a lot budget wise, however I do have a bit of time. I have a '66 barracuda that I cut the entire floor out of and gutted the doors/etc. I do have a duster and demon as well. The '66 is a money pit so I wanted to see if I could get a duster within the same weight as with less hassle or expense. I still have to figure out a less costly way to four link it if I stay that route. I planned on plexi windows for sure. Stock '64/66 rear glass is 60 pounds.

I don't think I would cut the floor out of the demon because it has almost no rust in it.
