My new 340 went went on the dyno today !

He used home built HP950 carb
the dyno headers are 1 5/8-1 3/4 stepped with a 3 1/2" collector.
no carb spacer, 2gals 110 to 3gals 93, timing at 35.

He's going to make a few more with my carb and spacer and play with timing a bit.

I sure cant complain about 478 horse power for $2500.
I think it may drop a few with my carb but we will see.

Awesome Adam. I hope you got that rear end up to snuff to handle all that HP? My buddy in KY just blew out his whole rear after getting his stroker motor in and hooking it up with a set of MT slicks. Oh well, he keeps redoing the thing to the point i think he likes to see where he has a weak link...Gook luck with your new motor...

VERY NICE!!!!....CRAZY73 better watch out!!! :happy1:...i wont need to watch out cuz BOTH OF YOU are out of MY league!!!! :rambo:

Nice power Adam and an even better deal. That ought to make that fish dance.

Adam,

Thats great! Dwayne's dyno is very conservative. And those numbers are very good. You might have a hard time putting it to the pavement.
Good Luck
Jim

Dwayne told me his other dyno carb is usually good for 5-8 more hp then the one he used. Also an electric water pump would be good for another 5-8 horse at 7000rpms. Thats 500 horse from a factory iron head 340 !

Heck, If you put a wing on the back of the Fish, That's worth 50hp right there.
Then add a fart pipe that's another 25 hp, I think the performance air cleaners are worth 25hp, Oh then graphics, those are worth gobs, You could be well over 1000 hp soon :joker:

Just kidding around.
Sounds like a great score Adam. Can't wait to see how it runs.

not a bad little small block if i do say so myself. 2500.00 for the whole build? including labor? if so thats a hell of a deal.

It was already built. He ran it in his car and pulled it to go with a 440. He freshend it up and it sat for a few years.

still a heck of a deal though, dwayne defintatly doessome nice work from what i have seen.

Thats why I bought it. It was like buying a short block and getting the rest free.

My Carb needed a new set of metering blocks so no numbers with my set up yet.

Nice, very very nice. Were are those build specs?

When does this bump stick start making power?
What stall converter and rear ratio are you running?
ported 587 heads with MP 2.02/1.60 valves
Pretty well ported I guess. Would you have anyflow numbers to go with them?
mild plenum mods
Last one, promise. (For today at least. :-D ) Have a picture of the mods?

Dude, I think your gonna have a hell of a good time with this engine.

Id say around 4000 is when the cam really turns on. The dyno pull started at 4400.The motor runs kinda rough under 2500rpms

What stall converter and rear ratio are you running?

I have a 904 with a low 1st, T/A 8" converter that was flashing ar 4000rpms with my old motor and 3.91s. I need more gear though, 4.56 would be ok.

Just the peak number for the intake [email protected]"

No, but I'll take some when I get the motor home on Oct 1st.
