HP04 oscillating fan with heater function and air filters. Its the weird Edsel grill looking fans for home use. If you can find one with no power , smell the bottom plate where the power cord goes in for burn odor. If you can smell burned plastic or rubber, the cord where it bends for the oscillation function has shorted and opened. You can replace the 8" section from the splice case to the oscillator motor with some AC line cord. But getting to it is a royal PITA. This thing is built like a Chinese puzzle box with interlocking parts and clips and 3 different sizes of torx screws and integrated cord gutters. To take the base off to where the short has to be fixed involve taking the top off and the fan motor to get down to the 5 torx screws. This is what it ends up looking like to get to the oscillator motor and heater element.

The shorted line is actually under the bottom plate but it will burn right at the entry point and you need to get in there to properly splice it.

FAN MOTOR????? I thought they were supposed to be fanless???? They lie!

Something has got to move the air.

Looks like a printer.

I used to HATE disassembling laser printers because every manufacturer used points on the external case to anchor internal parts, slides and springs.
That means you have to completely reassemble it in order to do any testing.

Thankfully, that hasn't been part of my job for over a decade.
