So starting a little map of my build out. Basically I'm duplicating the Engine labs 360 build but with KB107 pistons. I'm curious what others are doing for flattop pistons. With J head I should be be at 10 to 1 about it just below it. Not decked yet but I figure that and head gasket thickness will dictate that as well. Here is the link below I have a Pro Form 4250 850 CFM instead of AVS but same build otherwise.

Managed to get a status on parts ordered looks like things are on the way. Just bleeding money on this at the finish line lol. I have cam kit on the way X268H comp cam, new thermostat housing thermostat and gasket, Mellon oil pump HV, high volume GMB water pump and HEI distributor. I'm waiting to order the Keith Black KB107 std pistons was told to wait as we need to see what bore will be. This is not a high dollar build. I was told oh you can't make Hemi power 360 without spending big money. I say oh yes you can the Hemi is a name small 5.7 I have in my truck yes Ram 2021 close to 400 but lots of changes to put in a Dart. I want this to be a Dart not a modern car. It's pretty old school why I like the car. I have owned about 60 cars so I know what I want this time around for an old car. Now if car had no engine and was not a matching numbers 360 and I had no engine and trans I would go nuts lol!

Motor mounts updated and I got my new HEI distributor exactly what I wanted.

Who'd you get the HEI dizzy from? I got a generic unit off Ebay and replaced the module and coil with Petronix FF3. Could not be happier with results. Only other thing I had to do was put RTV in a few of the slots on the lower shaft... had oil creeping into the base of the dizzy.

Unless you port the heads you aren't getting 400hp out of it with a XE268H camshaft. It's a 340-360HP deal.

The color is BUENO... like that a lot.

Did you mean E85 in your title?

74 Scooter knows wtf is up with that cheap dizzy. Got a local kid here running an LA 360 in a dirt car that did THE EXACT SAME **** he describes.

This is what happens, top photo. The fix is to just RTV all but one of the slots in the second photo. Problem solved. Toss in Petronix module and coil... rock-n-roll.

See engine labs dyno build 360, I do plan to do some head work and I'm bumping compression up as well 10.2 to 1 should be right on the edge of 400 with better compression which they left bottom end stock pistons. Modifying And Testing A Dodge 360-Cube LA Small-Block On The Dyno

It's going to take more than "mild" porting (bowls and window clean up) and not moving more material. I never believe anything off that particular dyno until it proves it at the track.

Well hopefully this is not the same one but if it is then I will send it back. I'm not a fan of buying more stuff in the distributor that is brand new will just go with better unit. I will crack it open and check though. Or doing a flamethrower and all that sillyness. Get all that I may as well get the msd then.

Yeah I may schedule some time here in Tulsa at a dyno and see what I get either it does but it does benefit me with a tuned broke in engine. Save's me the hassle at home in a garage.

I looked at MSD and DUI, have a MSD and 6AL box in my Fairlane. Spend your money elsewhere. Having to fill the slots with RTV is no biggie. I paid under $200 for the dizzy and it Came with a set of not horrible wires. The billet housing itself is fine. I swapped out the module and coil because what Came with it was generic. Ran fine out of the box.

FYI.. here is the Ebay linky~dinky to the setup I bought. Hard to beat for $148.

That's basically what this is and came with red wires. I really don't want to remove the pin sigh but was 124.00.

Don't sweat the roll pin... it comes out and goes back in easy peasy. Just index it when you remove so you don't try to reinstall that slip ring 180 off, the hole could be a tad off center. Oh and the springs that come with that are typically REALLY light... your mechanical timing advance will likely be all in by 2k rpm or so.

I had bigger issues with the MSD billet dizzy in my Ford that shipped with the wrong gear installed... their "tech" guys claimed core shift and walked away from it. I installed the right gear and it dropped right in... been running 10 years now w/o issue. I nearly mailed them the old gear.. here's your core shift... lol.

Looks like you got a different set of wires with yours. I just swapped mine out with a set of Summit.. my radio whine went away with the new wires. YMMV.

Here is the old unit it I replaced and worn out.

Thanks yeah I see what you mean the slots are for oiling but size or to many create the issue. I had read on alot of them on mechanical that stiffer spring may be in order. Below is the garbage I'm replacing I would rather loose the coil and do an FBO module HRR688 Ignition Box this should work with the HEI setup and no ballast less it's not possible. Then will change that as well to match the distributor to newer one. I actually had the original everything and it worked but was pretty obvious it's worn out. Still had the ma Mopar stamps and such on it. I plan to keep it never know later get it reconditioned upgraded. In case I change things up later.

Thanks for the input by the way I do appreciate it and it's the reason I made thread here. If I avoid someone else's issues it's good for me ☺️

No worries, glad to help out. The HEI unit really cleans up the firewall as well and you can get replacement parts near anywhere.
