Yes, that's the # that members were asking for......

8 = 1968

e = assembly plant where built (I think California is E, not sure though)

170615 = Sequence # or VIN

It's out of a Dart or Barracuda. Either way the engines are the same.

VIN should be on the front, drivers side of the block, not at the back. That was later.

Check the valley, and see if it has extra oil passages, with block-off caps on the head surface.(just out of curiosity)

Not sure about the extra oil passages. Here's a pic.
