Early A- 4spd carpet protector

Looking for that piece that keeps your foot from rubbing through the carpet. Had one in the garage probably 15yrs ago and didnt have a clue what it was for, used it to direct oil off the torsion bars when doing an oil change. Now have a 4spd early a and would like one. Any leads?

I keep seeing posts about these, but I've never seen one installed. I don't understand where it is supposed to be located once installed. Does anybody have a photo of one installed?
