Okay Guys, I know this question has been probably asked about a million times already...
But I am building a 65 dart and I already have the 440 with ported 906's and the 727 and the 8.75 ready to go. The only thing that is really hindering this project is what direction I should go with Headers????

I would really appreciate All of your Big Block pictures and some sort of description on how and why you chose the exhaust system you went with. (more pictures the better)

What I had in mind was to buy a set of Hookers for a later A body and making them fit. What do you think about that? They aren't cheap this is why I'd prefer to have some knowledgeable advise before I make a costly mistake.
Thanks

I feel your pain i'm in the same boat 65 Dart, 440 already purchased.
Have a dana 60 ready to put under it.Still looking for a decent tranny.
I guess will have to build custom ones...

Good luck with your project
socaldart..

the only way to make hedders work on an early A with a 440 is to use fenderwell type hedders. There is just not much room. I would not know where to get them.
Maybe hooker or Doug's. Just putting in the engine will be a challenge.
I used to know a guy down in FL with a 65 B'cuda race car with a 440. It had fenderwell headers. It was a nightmare to work on cause it was soo tight.
It was called the "Bear-a-cuda". Guy's name was Pat. Anybody remember this?

you might think about using and engine plate rather than motor mounts. this will help some, but you also have a trans tunnel issue. the 727 will be a very tough fit due to the width of the tunnel. the 904 is tight enough. if you do not mind cutting out the inner fenders, the 67 and up a body headers will fit, but you will have master cylinder issues and tire clearance issues. once again if you cut the inner fenders "add" tubing to catch the shock mounting run this to the fire wall or "if" you have a cage, run this tube into your down bar at the "a" pillar. just some thoughts...and plenty of good ole fashion work/fabrication.

No commercially available headers for this combo. I suspect you'll be having custom fenderwell headers made.
