It always bugs me if when driving straight down the highway the steering wheel is not centered. I know in the photo my steering wheel is aftermarket, but my question is if the factory '64 - '65 steering wheel only fits one way (with one different spline/space) or can the wheel be slid on at any orientation? Thank you.

Can’t you unbolt the three bolts holding the steering wheel to the adapter and index it closer to center?

No. The wheel bolts to an aluminum adapter and then the adapter engages the splines on the shaft. He can remove the center nut and remove the wheel, adapter and all and reclock the adapter on the shaft. But yes, the steering shaft has a master spline. But those adapters do not, so they can clock anywhere.
