I'm kind of stumped here ( not the first time ) ...

A customer of mine is working on a 1971 Duster ; here are its specs :

- VL29C1E
- Original-issue 1971 Ca plates
- Fender tag missing
- 225 ( of unknown year )
- 904
- 09/1970 build

It's completely stock ; it even has many of its assembly line hoses !

What's strange about it is this : Considering its Los Angeles Plant origins , the presence of an OSAC Valve , and its original 1971 plates , I cannot figure as to why there's no EEC Canister .

It has the 49 State breather ( has the smaller return hose which connects at the hard line which goes to the fuel tank , as well as the usual hose which connects to the carb ) .

Then , there's this odd-ball , non-OEM "Eaton" carburettor .
Never heard of 'em !!
It's perched-upon a replacement single barrel intake , with the stock automatic choke , stock air cleaner , etc.
Looks like a cross between a Holley 1920 and a Carter BBD ...

Anyone else seen these crazy carbs ?

Is the 225 / 904 exempt from EEC ?

I'm trying to help him work on this car ( I'd LOVE to have this Duster ! It's stock , no radio [still has the blockoff plate in place !] , rubber mats , cloth/vinyl seats [need recovered] , just plain as hell ! ) , and we're both stumped on this stupid carb !

Thanks for any help you guys can offer .

Slant Six Dan , where are you ????

Thank you very much , guys !

Later last night , I was thinking 'maybe it's a marine application...' , so I guess my hunch wasn't too far off .

I'll definitely share this info with my customer :toothy7: !

Thanks again , guys :toothy7:!
