Can one replace a 5 Pin ECU with a 4 Pin Unit with no adverse effects? My car quit running away from home, my parts store had a 4 Pin unit in stock but had to order the 5 Pin unit which was 3 times the cost of the 4 Pin unit. I bought the 4 Pin unit and drove it home!8)

The 4-pin is a drop in replacement for the 5-pin. For the most part all the aftermarket ECUs now are 4-pin internally even if they have the 5th pin in the connector.

As Dave said, direct replacement. And I'm sure glad to hear your car quit running away from home. :)
LOL. Yea oldvart. I'm glad my car came home too! Thanks for the info guys.

This may be an unforeseen application for those invisible fence systems.
1) Wrap shock collar around distributor cap
2) Crack open a beer
3) Await imminent deranged amusement as the car flails and bucks in surprise. 8)
