I have a question about the Performer intake manifold. I'm probably not looking at the right place but I'm looking for the port size of the manifold. Also what's the port size of stock 318 cylinder heads,

per edelbrock on their website .97" x 1.95"

the 318 heads i last measured (1968 units) were 1.92 i did not bother measuring the width because my concern was only with the height for gasket sealing purposes, but they were close to that as well.

are you concerned about a mismatch?

No, just a manifold that's a close fit

the performer, LD4B or SP2P are as close as you'll get other than a factory 4bbl piece.

correction: the action plus is very close as well with a reported 1.96x1 port size

Absolutely without a shadow of a doubt, the best working 4bbl I've ever ran on a 318 is a TQ on top of the factory cast, tuned well. Unbelievable!

any time sizzle chest!

you buy a car to put that manifold on or you goin' the other way and getting the hot rod bits first and figure out the car later?
Just trying to get the information first so I don't have to buy parts twice.

I know it's green but it's clean as a pin and it's 18k asking price

not a darn thing wrong with green. looks clean and tidy with a very straight body. i'd go for that it appears to meet all the criteria.

but i'd snap on some discs before messing around with a 4bbl upgrade.

They are probably the best thing to do first that's for sure.

I wouldn't do a darn thing to that car- It's too nice to start messin' with it. Leave it as is and drive the wheels off of it.
Find a beater to tear apart and turn into a permanent garage resident.

All of the past and present hoopla about finding the right car at the right price seems you need to call or fold.

Dan, that's why you get yourself into trouble here. You start a thread asking questions about a intake manifold and sidetrack yourself about buying a car. That discussion never goes well for you here.

I've got a nice 318 Performer that I'm probably not going to use. By that car and I'll bring it with me to Louisiana, MO during deer season in a couple weeks. Will trade for beer.

You better buy that Dan. Before I do, I’m 2300 miles away and I bet I get there before you.

Is that a 72?...... If yes, IIRC those could still be 9/1 engines ,
As always, for your application, stall and/or gears are the best bang for the bucks, especially with stock-type 2.76 gears which don't even get up to 2800rpm until about 30mph. Your 2bbl will get you there just fine. Altho, a TQ could be moaning sooner. lol.

Just so you know; not every aftermarket intake will accept an A/C compressor.

I've had two green cars in my life, and only cuz they were cheap, lol. Personal preference only; no slur on the Swinger above.
I also had a pink one back in 1970, so, I mean............
All the best to you, friend.

That looks to be a well-equipped factory car, I would be grabbing that one up fast.
