Edelbrock setup for dual quad

-
Congratulations!!! It just gets better and better. Get it all figured out so I can just install my DQ set up and go drivin'!!!

Ok so have a few hundred miles on the dual quad now. For the most part, 95% problem free. Seems fairly reliable. Still running rich I believe. Heres pics of DS plugs. 1 and 3 are definitely lighter.
Carb setup is rear #1406 and is primary carb. Idle mixture screws 1 5/8 turns out on both sides.
1405 front carb. Idle mixture screws all in finger tight. Rods and jets in both carbs are stock. Blue springs in 1406 and orange in 1405.
Plugs are Champ RN14YC, and have maybe 1000 miles. Around 200 miles since cleaning and since dual quad.
Thanks
Steve

Those plugs look like they have A LOT of idle time on em and it’s pig rich everywhere.

Edited to add;
And maybe burning a little oil.

I have a slightly used set of Autolite 66's that I'll clean up and use for next trial.
I have rods to go next step leaner(1456) but not the matching jet(1426/.095").
Would swapping rod only help lean it out?
Thanks
Steve

Heres plugs 2-8. Replaced them with lightly used Autolite 66's I cleaned and gapped. Pics of 66's before install for reference.
The 1 step leaner recommendation by Eddy states a rod and jet change....I have the rods but not the jets.
Would strictly a rod change help do you think?
Champion RN14YC 1st pics, then
AL 66

Ok, so 1 change at a time. I swapped rods/jets on 1406 secondaries. Went from .098 jet to .095 and rod went from .075x.047 to .073x.042.
Rechecked float drop/level.
Wells were clean, didnt see any junk.
Grandson swung by for his birthday and gave me a hand.
Last pic shows piston still sits high on DS.
Initial thoughts are it seems not as rich, but tomorrow will tell with a test drive.

Ok, still needing advice. Altho it fires up great and drives pretty good, there are still issues.
After approx 10-15 minutes of driving, there will be a "surging" that is fairly rhythmic. Once I change speed by either decelerating or accelerating, it goes away. It does come back tho. Only when in a constant speed.
Heres current pics of plugs I just pulled. Autolite 66. Black/rich as fack. Plugs appear to get progressively worse from front to back.
Going to put Champion N10Y in tomorrow.

Replaced rods/jets on 1405(rear/primary carb), to 1455 rod/1426 jets(leaner) approx 40-50 miles ago.
Rear carb supplies VA on ported side.
Timing with VA unhooked and plugged
Idle rpm is 500, timing 20* vac is zero
Rpm 1000-timing 25*-vac zero
Rpm 1500-timing 28*-vac 6.5"
Rpm 2000-timing 30*-vac 16"
Rpm 2500-timing-35*-vac 18"

The plugs you need [ heat range ] are a 12 in Champion or 5 in NGK. 10 is too cold for an engine that will always have a tendency to be over rich.

Man! That manifold looks nice. @CudaChick1968 can you do that chrome looking finish? Rough estimate on price?
That looks to be polished aluminum but yes, I have chrome replica powders.
The FAQ on my website is the best place to start. I'm not doing a guess on someone else's intake in the middle of a thread.
