Edlebrock RPM head clean up

-
The spring OD itself may be closer to the rocker, than the retainer.
Right. That was my thought as well. Lots of times the spring OD is greater than the retainer.

Thanks PRH for the confirmation on the retainers and locks. I am hoping for the same results on my retainer lock combo.
I ordered a valve height micrometer from Summit last night and will go back to work on this after Christmas.
I am wondering if Comp cams is discontinuing the 954 spring also. Like the Isky spring it would install closer to the OEM perimeters of the original springs, while also offering more spring pressure.
As brought up the springs seem to stick out pass the retainer and the comp cams retainer is slightly smaller diameter than the Edelbrock.
I have not played much with cylinder heads and even the 10 degree locks are new to me.

I am going to take the advice and go 9315s. Keep the retainers and order the 611 locks. The Edelbrock are a dual spring retainer but 7 degree. The springs will be returned. They were previously opened anyway.
Shipping is a bit slow now due to Christmas.
My machine work was done 15 + years ago and the cam and heads were bought over two years ago. To say this project is slow would be an understatement. The car will be fully restored.
Hoping to have the engine finished and in the car this winter.
Some things I still need to buy.
Cam button
Distributor gear
Head bolts or studs

The roller cam process opens an expensive can of worms. LOL
I bought the AR engineering timing cover and debating on nylon or bearing cam button. I would turn the nylon cam button down to desired depth on a lathe.
I was leaning towards the melonized gear from Hughes. But I recognize the potential value in a sacrificial gear also. Ahhh

Thank you PRH, and all who provide input. I very much appreciate it.
