Electic fan install????

Hey all. I am getting ready to install an elect fan and controller on my 71 Swinger with a 225 /6. My question is: For the adjustable fan controller. The instructions just say just "place probe in appropriate location" on the rad. Where is the approprite location? Near the neck? Somewhere near the middle?
I plan on completing the install this weekend. Thanks you all help.

the water exits the top of the engine and enters the rad at the top tank - then it travels down the tank, cooling into the lower rad hose - into the engine - so you want to read the hottest water - which is at the top.

place the probe near the top but it can be on any side - provided this is a stock downflow unit.
