Electric exhaust cut outs

-
Hey guys, I have a 68 Cuda,340s. I am in the process of updating my car after 21 years and putting in another motor and will be installing my TTI headers. I am interested in putting in electric exhaust cut outs. For those of you using them, what would you recommend I should look at. Are they worth it and do they work good? Power gain? This is a street car but I would love to flip a switch to get that sound and power they provide. Any suggestions or thoughts on the positive side would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sparky
Think I will throw my money at something else for the car instead buying head aches. Still have time to decide. Waiting for a hoist I ordered, need it now.

I built them for my car Sparky. They are 2.5" in and out, offset in, center out, and they have 19" long shells. They have all 304 st st externals with 409 st. st. tubes.

Ha! You know as much about mufflers as you do Torqueflite transmissions. LOL

Good to see you post, Tom. Yall ready for a good Christmas?

Yes sir. Got lots of trees up in the house and due to the virus, lots of neighbors had time to put up lights. Very pretty!

Huh??? Going for that hearing test tomorrow. Haha.

They are 10 dBa louder at idle, open, when measured at 20 feet and idling around 900 rpm. They are around 8 DBA louder at other engine speeds. Whisper quiet at idle and flowmaster loud when open.

Damn shame they can't be put in production for a reasonable price and availability! :(

We tested our e-cutouts with open headers and then open X-pipe with the E-cutouts just after The X and gained 10 hp on a 425hp vehicle. So there is some performance gain to be had. However, e-cutouts (or any other sound changing exhaust component is an indulgence. I for one have had a blast with them many times. Worth the money the first time I used them in public imo lol!

But you got to consider all the negative comments as well. I can tell you if you decide to give it a go, the Pypes versions are 5 year warranty. We've made them for 10 years now and have really worked out all the kinks. Even have an X-pipe that you can attach them directly to.

Corvettes have them stock. Guy was selling a pair for $60 at the last Fling I went to. OEM's have to be durable to survive the crap warranty now days. The Hellcats, Mustangs and Camaros all have them or something that makes them VERY loud when they downshift on the freeway, especially the Hellcats. IIRC the Model A had a manual cutout...at least the 3 stooges thought~

I’ve seen the advertisement of Waldron’s dual muffles and here a link.

Here is the set that is now on the VOE "Humbler" GTO from that 1970 commercial. It is almost restored and soon will be on the road.
