Thanks, but I'm still kicking myself in the butt. I would have been done hours sooner if for one second I would have stopped to think that maybe the inspection cover was holding the flywheel (and pressure plate) back.
I was used to a Ford where there's nothing holding it back. The dust cover usually comes out with the engine (like a 302, if I remember right) and there's no inspection cover to worry about.
Well, live and learn. Well, I took the engine over to a shop to get the whole engine gone through. Hopefully that will also solve my camshaft and too long of push rod problem without me having to deal with it.
Now I can pull the tranny out and replace it with the 4 speed I have sitting in the garage. I just need a shifter and everything that goes along with it.
