My thread over at FBBO recommended I ask here.
Car is a ‘70 satellite with a 318/904/8.25 2.71 rear. The 8.25 is getting 3.55s and the 904 is getting a 2500-2800 stall.
I’m building a .30 over magnum 5.9. I’ve got PIE’s level 1 eq heads with the 2.02 valves and a max lift of .575. Eddy air gap intake and 650 eddy AVS 2 sits on top.
I sent the stock cam to oregon cam grinding and got the #1236 grind, which is 222/230 @ .050", 276/283 adv, .554"/.563" lift with a 108lsa. This is rated at 1.6 rocker ratio.
I’m not a believer in fancy roller rockers for most applications, but do trust their rigidity at high rpm’s. However, I wont be going over 6000rpm.
My main question is, are the stock rockers (or Elgin’s ICE stamped rockers) safe at this lift and duration? I know there are folks that run them at around .530 lift with more duration, but can’t find a max “do not exceed”number for the stock rockers. The satellite will not be a track car, but burnouts and stoplight take offs will (more than) occasionally happen.
Harland sharps and the rest are not an option, at least for now. I’m already over budget and may need to drop the 360 in soon as the 318 is getting pretty tired.
