eq magnum rockers

I have a 00 5.9 that I put a set of eq heads and a new cam, tim chain, studs, guides,rol rok, and while trying to set my rocker geometry I see no way to get the roller on the valve stem and the rocker at the proper angle. when the rocker is at the correct angle of the 2 pins there are no threads for the stud. I'm thinking I got the wrong rockers from P.I.E. these are comp studs comp guides but some chinese crap rockers and I'm fixing to put the pedestal oem stuff on it it's a 512 480 lift comp magnum cam what should i do???

Sorry I am at my job and can't answer but thanks for wanting to help I've done this before but never to a magnum and this one has been a nightmare from the start. First I started with a 2000 van motor liw mileage that someone had replaced the heads on but they did a good job it ran perfectly and so I took it out and stripped it to a short block put a comp 20-602-9 cam in and new comp roller chain and thats where the trouble began the lower gear on the crank whas loose and I had to get another tim set then I degree the cam and install my studs on a new set of heads that I got at PIE when I ordered these parts I made it clear I wanted steel rockers and I was sent these liberty aluminum ones that I'm guessing are for a chev. Now I install the studs and guides and drew my marks on the rockers to be parallel to the retainer. Well with these rockers in order to be in that position the rocker is pointing at the stars. Now if you figure that should be at half lift so you can imagine where it was at full lift. If I were to use these rockers I would be way out of wack unless I'm missing something. Did I give you all the information you need? I'm at the point of putting tge oem rockers on and driving my truck I started 5yrs ago and still haven't drove. Meanwhile I am in the middle of 2other restoration dakota's and I built this one for a daily driver so I don't want problems it's an 03 manual I bought with a 4.7 (blowed up of course) and I don't believe the rockers are of any value on this motor and my other dakota's are 440 and 360 la so is it worth this ? And with this cam it will work with the stock rockers.
 
From that last picture it looks like the rocker is too high on the stud. I thought the starting point wrt measuring pushrod length etc is when the center of the rocker fulcrum is lined up with the flat of the valve stem tip. If I'm wrong I got nothing else, but you might double check that first. The angle of the pic makes it hard to see where it is in relation.

other that that, I'll be paying attention to learn something.
 
The pictures shown are basically worthless and show nothing meaningful. The rocker needs set where the pivot from fulcrum to tip roller is at 90° to the valve stem, then you lower the rocker half of your valve lift total. That is when you measure for pushrod length. And add your desired preload

Yeah sorry I have a &%#$$ phone. When the rocker is at half lift the two rollers should be at a parallel with the spring retainer angle and the roller should be at half the top of the stem right???? In the pic that was me holding it at that angle. The pushrod angle when that is at full lift is way out of wack and if I correct that then the roller is way off the stem I can't see how those rockers will work at all. I'm no expert at this but I had an adjustable pushrod and even without the guides in I can't get the ducks lined up. PIE just stuck it up in methats what I get for ordering parts through him. I also put a link to a video of the neww roller chain that is slopped on the crank and the chain so severally I won't be able to use it either so now I spent all that on the valve train and I'm having to put the whole thing back together with the stock stuff I just took off so other than the cam that I bought elsewhere I could have just bolted that motor in the truck it was already running fine.I did this with my saving my extra money from ssi check so it would be years before I could get new stuff. Story of my life lol

It doesn't matter wat length the rod is the rocker design will not let everything mesh together if you get the fulcrom and tip at the 90 angle thepushrod is way out of it's range and if you correct that then the tip is off the stem.I tried the adj rod at every length I could and you can get 2 things right but like a rubix cube theres always one that won't get in line lol

I'm not sure that's right.

I think the starting point is the fulcrum center being in line with the flat of the retainer (I was thinking stem tip earlier). in other words, the fulcrum center should be on the same level as the retainer top. Check it with a steel rule. The tip location is secondary at that point because other things will drive the geometry. Once the rocker height is correctly placed, then other things get adjusted.

That's how it was shown to me. Again, if I'm wrong, I am happy to learn.

Quick question, stock length valves or not?
 
Another point, you should probably call them and "calmly" explain what you are seeing. Quite possible someone slapped the wrong rockers on in a hurry. **** happens..

Since you already mentioned it as an option you are considering, I would just run the stock set up. They will be fine with that cam. If the cam is a regrind it may require slightly longer pushrods.

I tried to return them when he sent them because I specifically asked for steel rockers and did not want aluminum and he sent these and told me he doesn't know of any steel ones for magnums BS and he would have to charge a restock fee and I pay shipping . If I had known that I wouldn't be able to use any of it I would have. Just returning the rockers wasn't worth it but now the timing chain was no good . And I bought high$ valve covers just to run those rockers. I could have spent all that money on a solid roller set up with steel rockers and been as happy as a fat girl on prom night.
 
Since you already mentioned it as an option you are considering, I would just run the stock set up. They will be fine with that cam. If the cam is a regrind it may require slightly longer pushrods.
It's a comp shelf cam I'm putting the stock stuff on today its soaking in gas in a pan and i'm gonna blow them off and inspect and reinstall I'll show some pics after done for everyone andTHANKS TO EVERYONE for the help I wish I could return the help but I am very grateful !
 
I can't be of any help with the rockers, but have a question about the Magnum swap. When you went from the 4.7 to the Magnum, did you have to move the motor mount saddles on the frame? I have an 04 Dakota, and somewhere down the road when the current 4.7 gives up, I plan to Magnum swap it. Just curious what you used for motor mounts. Hope you get the rockers worked out soon.
