We entered Lafawnda the car show at Evangeline Beach on August 24th.
As I can remember, this was the largest gathering of classic cars I have seen since '07. The day was clear and bright and there was no escape from the shade. Hot ! Looking around at the number of umbrellas and tents, I knew they had been here before. My daughter was very late arriving at the show and she didn't want me to explore until she arrived...
Lafawnda received a lot of positive comments. The purple seems to attract females..and they definitely was impressed with the young gun female owner. The next morning with the dew, we noticed a major number of fingerprints on the top of both doors,,,many folks taking pics of the interior.
What blew me away was the absence of spectators from the ages 14 to almost 30. We stuck around for the awards and they reflected an older person's taste.
When I saw the road runner and GTX roll in, I knew we didn't have a chance because we were all grouped into the general classification "Chryslers"...and the A bodies seem to take the place of an orphaned step brother... My neighbour from the last show was my neighbour this day and when he saw a red 300 roll in, he said this guy would place... 2 out of 3 predictions were correct.
I have never had much faith in spectator voting and unfortunately, this opinion was yet again reinforced by the "best of show" choice award. I think some of the cars there that day were worth +75K...and what won ? A plain jane F150 with a rebuilt 302 engine and ricer wheels. Huh ????
I didn't get to walk around till later that day so many shots are generic and some cars had left..
I hope you enjoy.
Ian.
