Everybody thinks I lost my marbles

With all due respect, you obviously have too much time to kill. Find another car and fix it up, with your children or a friend or your wife even! Leave the beautiful working/running V8 Barracuda alone!

The V8 looks to damn good to replace with a /6. But I prefer v8 over /6's. Have you considered a new car project?

It would be different if you had found someone's ex race car and wanted to put it back to original; but c'mon, the car looks good as is. There are plenty of /6 project cars out there. don't turn this in to one. Pleeeeese.

As long as you retain the V8, the engine swap is not a big deal. I know guys who change out their engines just to get through emissions. I've always liked the leaning tower of power. Howard

You know what? F%^&* Them, it's your car and your having fun with it your way.

I see you've already got the slant 6 thermostat housing on your engine...is that what gave you this idea to swap?

Maybe this would satisfy the masses!! LOL

lol we're in the same boat. My 68 came stock with a slant and I'm throwing a turbo on it to confuse the V8 guys. I'll be making hopefully 350-500hp on 10 pounds of boost with 91 octane(mind you I'll still be getting around 20-22 mpg) and then I can tune it up to like 30 pounds of boost and make 700+ with race gas making still decent fuel mileage numbers. Sure I won't look stock but it'll be fun.

I had a 440six pack, hemi four speed,3:54 dana 60 in my roadrunner about 2 months ago ,and replaced it with a 69 318 w/swirl port heads, comp cam 270H,aluminum four speed overdrive ,and 8 3/4 2:94 open rear -result..........drive by gas stations instead of stopping at ALL of them. But man was it FAST !!!!!

OK, you haven't lost your marbles. You've just rattled them..... 8)

Now, what you need is a partner in crime, so to speak. I have a slant 6 Dart that needs a V-8 swap. You have a V-8 car you want to transform back to stock. Where do you live? Wanna come to NY and have an engine swap party? I have a B-B-Q grill and there's a beer distributor not too far away.... :-D

Its still beautiful Yellow68Runner.
You can always swap back if you want to someday, but for now, drive it and enjoy it.

how old r you. b4 i was born my dad went from a 10.5 street car, gave it up and restored a stocker model a . lol
He turned 52 last month...

Are you snowed in and suffering from cabin fever.

yes we are!!! It has been colder than a witches tit in a brass bra here and there is nothing to do but sit around the house and wait for spring!!

Well, the migration of parts and car has started. Our garage is too small to change your mind in, much less an engine, so B/B Mopar offered to let us have a corner in their shop to do this...those people are real great!. They sell and ship engines, so they are going to help us ship the 273 when we are ready to sell it. I thought I'd let you guys know first, otherwise, it is going on eBay. The only thing wrong with the engine is one of the lifters will clack every now and then. Otherwise, the engine is beautiful, exhaust manifolds were redone by jet hot, brand-new water pump, and fairly new carb, new electronic distributor, Has correct gaskets. The 273 came out of my 1968 Dart. It has 46000 miles since rebuild. It won Best Stock Engine last summer. I plan on starting this on eBay for $500 if nobody wants to buy it outright here. The 904 A/T transmission will be listed on eBay for $50, no reserve. You guys get first choice to buy it before I list it sometime in the next 46 days (I'm pushing to get the engine swap and new rearend done in time for my first show in 46 days). If somebody feels safer buying from on eBay, I'll post here the day I list it. If anybody is interested and would rather talk in person, my phone #507-236-0318
and ask for Terry

On a different note, Here is how the slant six is coming so far (click on picture to start the slideshow):

Maybe that 273 was just too scary fast for him in that car... needed to slow it down a bit to enjoy it more?

Just kidding. I am a fan of the slant as well as the V-8. If you build it up nice, the slant will get more looks at the car shows... for some reason, people are drawn to them.
