Good morning all. Got a great deal on some 340 hi performance exhaust manifolds. Any issues putting them on my 318 as far as gaskets are concerned. Should I order gaskets for a 318 or a 340? My car currently has headers, and I am taking them off.
Thanks, Pete.

Have them resurfaced, Clean the head surface and install them without gaskets. That is the way they came unless you are using the heat shield on the drivers side which is not needed with today's wires and wire covers. Make sure they fit against without hitting protrusions on the block or head where those areas may need to be ground down so they fit flat. I never use gaskets on Manifolds Just something to blow out and leak.

I'll give the no gasket method a try. The manifolds have already been surfaced.
Thanks for the info!
Pete.

I surface the heads and manifolds, and put a thin coat of high temperature rtv. Never had a problem.
