Hi,
I look for a new top for my 67 Dart.
What are the experiences with the tops that are offered by classicindustries.com?
I need a supplier that ships worldwide and I also need some other things to complete my restoration...
Thanks
Matthias from Germany

Classic is just a retailer. The best tops are Robbins. Kee tops are also decent. I'm not sure whether the convertible top guys make their own tops or not. We've got tops to buy some time this year. Not sure who we're going to use.

Hallo
I can not speak to Classic Ind's top just some pointers from my recent top replacement

  1. Get a sample of the top material before you buy
  2. I used Electron Tops from the NY area. (I had some issues but they were resolved to my satisfaction)
  3. The replacement glass curtain will most likely not have the proper curvature to the bottom of the glass to follow the body lines
  4. The supplied "New" cables broke during assy. I just reused the originals.
  5. The "Pad" material they supplied was nothing like the original in shape or construction
  6. DO NOT Throw away your old top, glass, or door seals (if original), the glass can be used in a new curtain for more money. Also top can be used by an upholstery company to make a copy, might be cheaper with shipping costs etc. and the old seals might be better than the new replacements
  7. The rubber seal kit for the top where it meets the top of the A-pillar is NOT a rounded piece of material with round foam inside of it. 66 older seem to use this type. the seal has a profile that fits into a piece of metal that is screwed on to the front bow of the top. (I did not use this seal kit) Mopar A Body 67-69 Convertible Top Roof Rail & Header Weatherstrip Seal Set PREMIUM
  8. There are small acorn nuts on the back of the screws that hold the window seal channel to the top frame
  9. There are foam pads that go between the removable tack strip that is attached to the bottom part of the rear curtain that attaches to the body ( repos are available from Mopar A Body 67-69 Dart Convertible Top Foam Gasket Set) DMT only makes them in white, I have only seen the oem ones to be blackred arrow longer is better

blue arrow is the seal on the front header bow I was talking about

I dont know if I have the right glass now. Are the new ones smaller than original?

Oem glass has a slight curvature to it. And the two lower corners kick out just a tad.

The replacement glass is typically flat and the bottom edge of the vinyl will be flat.

Oem look

So maybe mine is original

What do you mean with: the two lower corners kick out?

I heard that classic is overall good service and good quality parts. When comparison shopping however I have found a lot of items for less.

They say they have the "highest quality tops available" ...

I am in contact with a local convertible specialist. They manufactured the VW Karmann Ghia in my town many years ago. These guys are the left overs from the convertible makers...
What you think would a canvas top look like on my Dart?

This is the Ghia

Not so much, but it looks way better than most.

The two bottom corners of the glass are not planar to the rest of the glass.they point out toward the back of the car a bit
