A heads up for members in the Chicago area one of our members Cliff Guinand was invited with his 1972 DART SWINGER 340 SPECIAL to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. Cliff and another FABO member SCATPACKER made the 4 day drive from Alberta, Canada and arrived today for the big show.

So for those that might like to see one of the rarest Mopar A-bodies down in the States this would be your opportunity, one of only 60 ever built, and these guys deserve an applause for making that trip this late in the year. Awesome effort fellas!

Hope some of the members and their friends can check them out at the show they're suppose to have been assigned a great spot on the floor.

Congrats Cliff. Have fun in Chitown.

What a great honor it must be for both of you guys!
Represent us well, eh.............
And Cliff, don't forget to buy a T-Shirt while you are there!

Good job buddy, glad you both made it OK, and have great time, and then a safe trip home...…….Car looks fantastic...…….

The show was fantastic as always and Cliffs 72 340 Special made it that much better. Thanks to Cliff, Kevin and Neil for making the trip and sharing this awesome machine with all of us. It was great to finally meet you guys! You guys are still probably full from eating the deep dish pizza Friday night :)

Hey Ron, was so awesome for you to go out of your way and show us Canadians a little Chicago - and stuff us full of D'Agostino's deep dish - nom, nom, nom :)-
As well, great meeting you and your buds, great people, good times! Then there was the show - damn, that's one big *** event. On the way back Kevin, Neale and I were reviewing and we said, wow, what a show... but, with the car in attendance it was 'mind officially blown'!!!

Sweet. He must have been there Friday night, my canvas mat was still clean, haha.
We actually had a good Canadian turnout, both cars and people, so that was neat to see - there were 5-6 guys out from Gibsons BC, they came with Dale Ingram, one of the '71 340 Special owners. With that said, we had 5 owners there, 2 Americans and 3 Canadians... here's a pic, from left to right - Joel, Casey, Kevin, Dale and myself. Neat reunion of sorts :)-

That was a great show and great mopar presence there! It was so cool to see Cliffs car in person finally! It really was stunning. My son and I look forward to going again next year. My son bought a few items from Mr Norm for his 68 Coronet and we talked with him a bit. We even took a quick trip over to Mr Norms old Grand Spaulding Dodge dealer bldg. Cool to see it in person, even though now it is just a run down bldg in a really sketchy part of town.

Hey Mike, yes, wasn't that an awesome show - we were lucky as I/we had a car there - what a ride. Too bad we didn't have a chance to chat but glad you saw the little 340 Special along with literally tons of other Mopar's, which I heard there were even more last year - probably with the shaker E-bodies they had.
Here's a pic of us owners pointing out everything wrong with my car, haha. With that said, the people there were just plain awesome!!!

I thought that '72 Swinger looked familiar. About a minute into this youtube video is where the car shows up.

Nice job, Mr Guinand!

Wasn't that cool!!! This Jerry guy (who turns out to be a writer for Muscle Car Review magazine and others, along with his youtube videos) sticks a camera in my face and starts asking questions, and I'm like, blah, blah, blah and then I see this guy under my car (who turns out to be Dave Wise of MMC Detroit) who's giving my car a thorough-one-over and essentially validates it - too cool. And then I see this video, haha, turned out great - all based on Dave and his whatever scope and Jerry getting infatuated with it... all centred around my 340 Special - crazy what transpires.

I take it you guys made it home safe, Cliff.
Thanks for carrying the banner for these ''Special'' cars and making the trip.
I can't wait to see them in the major magazines!
Makes me proud to be a Canadian for sure!

Thanks Tom, and no problem waving the '340 Special' banner - I've got way too much time invested, haha, but loving every minute of it!!!

Oh, and speaking of major magazines, I was on the phone with Randy Holden of MCG for over 1/2hr this morning and directed him to the website to verify things I told him - Tim Costello (photographer) and Rob Wolf had met with me at MCACN and they took pictures, so be interesting what they come up with for an article - he sounded excited about the project 'cause he'd never heard of these so was all new to him.

As well, here's an excerpt I captured off of the Hagerty website - actually, the writer, Diego Rosenburg sent to me on Facebook - so this is pretty darn cool as well - it keeps on spinning, LOL.

Hey all, OK, not a big article but Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine did a feature on MCACN in the March 2019 issue and out of the 550 or so amazing machines there, they featured about 20 of them and my '72 Swinger 340 Special was one of the stand outs!!! Too Cool, eh! Here's what it looks like...
