Factory spec 340 cam in 318

I have a low compression 318 with standard Carter 2 barrel & stock exhaust manifolds, 4 speed manual with 2.92 rear end.
I want to give it a bit of life without changing the factory inlet or exhaust, I have been told that a factory 340 manual cam will do that without changing the smooth idle as this is a every day ride.

I think the 340 spec is lift 430in, 444ex, dur 268in, 276ex, 114lsa.
It looks like Mopar purple factory 340 is not made anymore, I think the part number is P4452782.

Anyone know know were I can get a factory one & will this work or is it to much cam for a low compression 318?
 
You are kidding yourself if you think this is a good idea without going to dual exhaust
 
318 stock cam sucks at 240 with .399 lift so any performance cam is a major step up but your keeping everything else stock I'd go with high lift 256 cam.

It's an Aussie Charger with a dual exhaust so should be OK.

Had someone else say go for a tow cam & if these are specs of the factory 318 anything would be a step up.
