Factory Thermostat Housing Bolts?

The bolts I found on the 340 I purchased have no built-in washer, captive washer, or lock washer (just a regular bolt with some orange paint on the bolt head). I was just curious what type of fastener the factory used originally on the thermostat housing? Something tells me there must of been some kind of washer. Thank you.

They are just a regular head bolt, no flange, no captive washer, no washer. The should have a nylon slug for locking and a H on the head.

Don't forget to put pipe dope/thread sealant on them when installing, they go into the water jacket.

Not on all intakes, 67 2 BBL they are flat bottomed and can build up enough junk to prevent the bolt from tightening properly
