I contacted 2 local guys to have my front bench redone, (split bench with the arm rests)

One said $1400, the other $1200
Does that sound about right to you guys ?

I'm not looking for anything fancy here, but it will be custom colors

I rebuilt my own using legendary interior skins and locally sourced some 2” foam. It cost me over $700 before I was done, so I would say those costs do not appear extreme to me, imho.

IF premade seat covers are available for your car from Legendary, buy them and do it yourself. It really is easy. I have done it twice, and I have NO upholstery experience.

Not in the colors I want, but your are right, doing upholstery isn't bad, I've done it for a few blue moons

sometimes it's good to live in a small town. i just had both the front and back seats and all 4 side panels (door cards) in my duster done for $1200. not stock but very pretty cloth. no more scorching vinyl. lol

Go to Legendary's web site and there is a section for custom colors and grains. I got mine done in stock grain in colors that were not offered that year. They even did the door panels like stock in a non-stock color for me. Costs 25% extra for the custom colors and grains. Their web site lets you simulate the colors on your seats so you don't get surprised.

@str12-340 beat me to it. I thought about changing my interior color several years ago to a tanish butterscotch color (like you see in Ferraris). I thought that would go well with the dark green paint. I called Legendary and they said they would be happy to make covers in custom color schemes. It would still probably be cheaper than a local upholsterer, but you would probably have to wait a while.

I'll look into it

I got time, since I got 2 seats, so there is no down time rebuilding one

I do like the idea of having it done local...but I also like the idea of doing it myself

Plus, I have it on good authority I'm quite loco

I like to patronize local businesses too. If you don't support local businesses, there will be no local businesses.
However, there is a price at which I won't go local.

My upholstery buddy did mine for $1k. It was supposed to be $800, but it was a much bigger job once he opened it up. He does do all the repairs to the frame, springs and such, and rebuilds the tracks and paints it all. I provided the seat covers from Legendary. I don’t mind paying him, he does it right, has a quick turnaround, and has been my upholstery guy for decades.

The price sounds reasonable. The last time I got a quote on just installing bucket covers it was $500 and that was 20 years ago. I do my own work now. I got some covers from Legendary a year or two ago. They took over 10 months to deliver so that is something to consider.

Thanks guys

Im going to go see the guy who quoted the higher price (i like how he didnt low-ball me on the front end to get the job)

I'll pull the original seat out, bring that one and the other one and let him decide which one is the best candidate h

I will keep you guys posted

This is the color scheme I have, and wanna stick with

Let's see, orange car with a white stripe. What color should we go with on the interior. You may not agree, but white with minimal orange highlights (possibly just the beads, or whatever they are called) would look awesome. Black (or dark grey) with the same orange highlights) would be a good second. What are you thinking?

So, I'm not planning on doing the back seat just yet, and I like the colors I have now, so I'll most likely stick with the white and orange, just have it redone all in vinyl

That way, it won't clash with the back

Price is reasonable. The materials from Legendary probably cost $700-800 but I personally don't think it's worth it to pay $500+ in labor to do this job. It's really not even difficult to do compared to a lot of the stuff that is required to restore a car.
