Fan clutch needed

Good morning to all
I am looking for a new fan clutch for our 70 340 engine.Have gone through 3 major chain parts stores here(Calgary area) and on line with some others to no avail. The old clutch appears to be original or maybe changed out at some point. I am looking for what appears to be a short shaft out of the clutch itself for a total height of 2.250" any longer and I am in the rad.The clutch case OD is 6.0". Standard rotation and non thermal. Are they any other manufactures outside of the Four Seasons Inc (4s.com) that I may check or numbers that I can cross reference. Trying to stay away from an online order if possible. Any info greatly appreciated.Thanks
 
is that 2.25 in shaft length or 2.25 from the pully to the rad ? I have a Mopar clutch fan that is 1 year old and looks new I'll go take some measurement's for you , have you called the dealership ? they were on clearance for a long time ,I paid around 20 bucks for mine as a kit new with all the bolts .
 
The shaft is 1.000" from the machine surface on the bolt hole to underneath the flange,over all height is 2.250" from clutch face to mating face to the pump. I have only 3-5/16" of clearance between the water pump flange and the rad.This gives me about 1.000" of clearance between the fan clutch face and rad when installed. Was going to try our dodge dealership Monday but my last visit there was not very good but I have 2 or 3 dealerships in Calgary I can try. 20 bucks is a good deal with bolts included I would say.Thanks for the reply cannucky.

that looks shorter than mine , I am pretty sure mine is the only one in the performance catalogue but you can download a copy from the mopar website to verify this .I haven't been home yet but will measure mine for you to be sure when I get there
 
well i measured mine and it's 3 inch's when sitting like the one in the pic , let me know if you find one eh ,I had to swap mine for the old steel fan when I went to the aluminum water pump as I had the same problem
 
Check your local Napa Store or go online to Napa. I am sure you will find it there. They have a good we site with photos and dimensions. If you can't find it let me know and i will have a look at work as i have it book marked.
 
Thanks for checking yours out cannucky. I started this hunt at Napa,Auto value parts, Canadian tire as well as numerous on line suppliers with no luck. The closest I can get is in the 3.000" overall height. I have a diagram I am going to send to Flex-a-lite,Four Seasons Inc and Hayden's just to see if maybe their is one available in another vehicle line. Spent several hours sunday going through their websites coming close but not getting all of the measurements in one area or another. :sad7: Thanks for the help Jeff
 
I went on the Napa site today and they appear to be gone. I have a print off from Jan/12 showing them as an available part. I will check with my Napa rep and ask him.
 
I did get a reply back today from Four Seasons Inc/Haydens. The tech tells me that the numbers I have researched from both websites are correct replacement for the engine. Kinda funny that oldkimmer brings into to play the the jag, I spent hours yesterday looking at the odd ball stuff thinking that maybe this is the case to no avail just got a kink in the neck.... Anyway today I am thinking that maybe there is another issue here. I thought maybe it could be an issue with the rad not being the correct rad for the car.And checking the number out in the book it seems the rad is not a 1970 but rather a 1971 possibly from an E body car. If this could be the case is there a spacing place on the rad that would pull the rad closer to the engine rather than hugging the rad support in the front? I have about a 1/2" of space between the front of the rad and the support wall.
If the bracket is set a little different this will make a difference between the water pump flange and the backside of the rad....I think. When I have some more time I will measure things closer and I guess go from there.Thanks guys.
 
Thanks Jason. Napa is who I deal with here in town on my parts. I have to find my return receipt for the number we used to compare and I will post it.
 
About this Jag app that oldkimmer put fourth, there is a post in the heating/cooling/ac section on this. After reading through it I checked out the part number and dimensions and this is pretty close to what I am looking for at least dimension wise.So my Napa guys will have one out for tomorrow morning for me.See how this works. Greatly appreciate the input.
 
Got the jag fan clutch installed although it is 3/8 inch taller than the one I replaced it will work. 5/8" clutch face to rad and 1-1/4" blade to rad. I think when I get the proper rad for the car I may gain a little more but for now should be good. Greatly appreciate the input. Thanks

So inquiring minds want to know , how much and whats the part number ?
 
My cost $73.00 with taxes and is a thermal unit,Napa # A8684, made by Hayden #2765 for a 88-92 Jag and is listed in the Hayden application chart. I have the 18"-7 blade steel fan and after a short run and a check, 2nd harder run I feel the car was perked and for sure running cooler than previously. Feel good air being pulled in as well as good flow on the back side.Have some pictures I could post or send of the end result if anyone is interested.Will put some miles on it this weekend and see.
