We have a 1970 Duster 340 stick car with stock stroke at are track running low 9s. I think he just went to a 350 something stroke, He's owned the car since new and it is a real 340 stick car.
I'm always impressed with the NHRA Stockers, the 340/360 A-body cars.
Talk about tuning.
I have gone 9.98 with a bone stock right from the factory r5p7 out of a truck
with technology these day's they can make a converter that works great, I have a coan 8", I street drive the **** out of this thing, converter flashes 6800, this is a roller motor, makes 742 @ 8100 and 540 lbs @ 6400, 60' is 1.32, 3375 lbs car with driver. Was it a roller motor or one of the restrictor motors? Some make a bit more power but it seems most are around 830. What's the car weigh? 60ft? What is the converter?
I came so close to going with one of them but they require such a high stall speed it just didn't seem logical for a car I still street drive
Just got our motor pulled on the dyno--583 hp-525 torque & 6800 rpm--Stock stroke l.a. 360 with 308 swirl port heads-13.1 compression--Steve
keep em coming
so far theres a distinct pointer towards mid to late 10's as a average for a well built 340/360
and high 9's for a unknown build.
in the Uk im getting the opposite reactions, im getting averages of high 12's to low 13's as very best???
so gears and stall have been a benefactor in the very quick cars, along with stock lift and duration.
Im gona start a new thread, where people can add that info, hope this sounds ok.
What's his Moparts name or his real name?Put a R5P7 motor in an A body and you will have a 9 second car with almost no tuning....get it tuned and you could drop into the high 8's.
I guy I met at Monster Mopar in Indy a few years ago that has a blue Barracuda with a low compression 340, production iron heads...it ran high 9's (he is on Moparts, not sure if he is on here)...that was a trick piece.
My D50 has a pump gas 340 stroked to 394. Drive to track and ran a best of 6.29 @ 109 with a 1.33 60 ft. so far through the mufflers drag radials and home made caltrac bars, 2950 lbs. I think that is in the 9.80 range in the 1/4. All motor.

Sorry I missed the stock stroke part. But it is not as big as most stroked small blocks.
Did he give you any details? Low compression and iron heads in the 9's is cool. What's his Moparts name or his real name?

What Trans set up?
I don't remember his name for certain...it has been a while since I have seen a post from him on Moparts...I think his name on Moparts was something like SS/ST??? Vic Bloomer rings a bell, but I'm not sure....the car looks like this (same color and body style).

His name on moparts is S/ST 3040 - Vic Bloomer.
I bought all my parts in my motor from him.
I had a stock bore and stroke 340 in a 1967 Valiant ( the car swifter has now ) and I ran a best of 6.67 @ 102 in the 1/8 and a best of 10.53 @ 128 in the quarter putting it on the bumper every run . I had another low compression 340 + .030 that was 9.2 comp I ran on Ultra 94 pump gas that went 10.69 @ 126 I shifted it at 8200 RPM it loved to rev that was back in 1998 nobody believed that it was a smogger but it was :burnout:
YES, S/ST 3040 is his name on Moparts, thanks D-50394....I hate getting old and not being able to remember stuff, lol.
DennisH, I remember his car being REALLY light weight. Here is his sig info from Moparts from 2 years ago:
"349" OEM Head, 1.88" valve, 9.24:1 Pump Gas
1.322 60 ft. 6.18 @ 109.01 9.86 @ 131.06 MPH (so far)"
....And (oddly enough) the pic I have above is of his car....crazy coincidence, because I was just looking for a pic of a blue Barracuda.
