I have hooked up the two identically.

Both work as blinkers when the lights are off. I turn the lights on..one goes on and the other stays off..which is correct ?

Pulling what hair I have out..

Either something is not grounded, or you have wires in the harness crossed, that is, a turn line and a park or headlight line shorted together

With the problem "showing" clip your test lamp or meter probe to a good ground. Then 'stab' the other probe into the lamp socket shell.....that is, into the shell METAL HARD so the probe "gets through" rust, chrome, paint. If you get any voltage or a test lamp, the socket is not grounded.

the hood mounted turn indicator will come on with park lamps just like the dash mounted indicators when the chassis ground at that front 1157 fixture is broken

I installed a new fixture but I have 2 live feeds going to it. Drivers side ok, passenger side not.

The wire with the trace flashes but also has power when the parking lights are on. Another has power when the parking lights are on. Sounds like the trace should only be pulsing ?

Thanks

i should say that these little gizmos have got to be the greatest things when working with wiring that you have had to cut. To install, you strip the ends...put them together. slide the base over them until the bare wire sticks out then screw on the cap so they are held tightly together.

They are called Posi twist. http://www.posi-lock.com/twist2.html

I had two problems. 1) I had one extra wire...not sure it came from and 2) i had connected the wire to a wrong group. My eyes and discolored wires were the culprits. It was weird, I was getting power 2 two wires at the same time vs one wire for the parking lights and a second for the blinkers.

The light allowed me to troubleshoot quite quickly.
