Which fender tag code items denote the factory installed transmission/shifter and differential/gear ratio on a 1972 Duster? Or better yet, where does one find the fender tag decoder link? Thanks.

Unfortunately, the fender tag will tell you only what type transmission the car came with. If it's a 3 or 4 spd manual, then you'll know that the shifter was the right one for it. I don't think it will tell you if it's a 3 spd, whether it's on the tree or floor. Same with automatics, UNLESS you see the code for console (believe it's C16 and usually paired with bucket seats, C55). Gear ratio is not on the fender tag, it would be on the build sheet, if you have it. Build sheet if all together and legible will tell you everything the car came with, from tires, brakes, on up, etc. There is a good book called Mopar Broadcast Sheet decoder '69-'74 that breaks down each line and tells you what the codes mean. Handy book to have around.
In some cars the axle still retains it's factory gear ratio tag, but a lot of those got lost over the years. If no tag, you'll have to resort to jacking it up to determine the ratio.
Sorry, I know that wasn't much help and unfortunately it's time to get going on today's "to-do" list.
